What Are My Skills?

  • Engineering Support

    I am a skilled technician, providing Engineering support to Sales at WANdisco, Exebridge, Sigma Solutions, and Sun Microsystems. At Exebridge and Sigma Solutions I performed dual-roles of Sales Account Executive and Principal Architect.

  • Field Sales

    I have been involved in Sales and Pre-Sales activities for much of my career. As Account Executive at Sigma Solutions and at Exebridge, I was responsible for closing sales across several large accounts. This required going outside of the office, selling products and services directly to clients. I successfully developed and closed many large deals resulting in millions of dollars worth of gross profit.

  • Field Services

    At Sun Microsystems, as System Support Engineer IV, I was a senior Field Services technician. For ten years I participated in an on-call rotation, supporting advanced Unix systems installations for customers throughout the state of Texas.

  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

    While at WANdisco, I frequently deployed lab environments into GCP, utilizing virtual networking, compute, data catalog and Google Cloud Storage.

  • Hadoop

    While at WANdisco, I installed hundreds of small Hadoop lab environments including implementations such as Cloudera Data Platform, HortonWorks Data Platform, Azure HDInsight, Google Big Query, Snowflake, Databricks, and Oracle Big Data Service.

    I have worked directly with customers in deploying WANdisco software into massive production Hadoop environments. My primary interaction with Hadoop was with HDFS and Hive. I demonstrated data migration from on-premises Hadoop environments into Databricks and Snowflake. This required SQL skills, as well as some Python and Scala scripting.
